Another in my ‘domestic sculpture’ series which repurposes household items and found objects.

These pieces evoke nursery rhymes and fairytales, with the symbolism of strength, innocence and vulnerability, but are left ultimately for you to impart your own story.

Sustainability is really important to me and these sculptures make use of things that are no longer wanted or would otherwise be thrown away but that have an intrinsic material value that can be repurposed.

‘Looking Back’ uses an extra large, ceramic shire horse ornament that has been given a lovely piece of pure wool, vintage blanket with its original stitched binding and selvedge. This has been embellished with reclaimed gold cord, forming edging and tassels.

The seated girl is antique and has gold painted detailing on her shoes, hat and clothing. She has an original Wade Whimsies rabbit on her lap, which is from my own childhood.

Everything is mounted on a flat base made from a repurposed wooden tray.

This piece is 35cm long by 20cm wide and 33cm tall.
